A beautiful Spanish 8 escudos gold coin also known as the Spanish gold doubloon of lore or pirate gold. The 8 escudo is equivalent to 4 doubloons and was the largest in the series with a standard weight of 27 gr. As old gold, Spanish doubloons are renowned for their occasional reddish tone. This piece has lovely symmetrical tone rings around the lettering front and reverse.
